Boston, MA (PRWEB) May 01, 2014 - CollegeWeekLive, the leading website where students and colleges meet live online, today announced a special event designed expressly for students from around the world who are interested in attending college abroad, particularly in North America. On Wednesday May 7th between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Eastern, students will be able to chat live online with admissions representatives at 90 universities, including institutions such as Boston University, McGill University or the University of Washington.
In addition, several live streaming video presentations will be offered during the 14 hour virtual program which are designed to answer the most commonly asked questions by students who plan to matriculate outside of their home country. For example, presenting sponsor, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), will be hosting an 8.00 a.m. Eastern presentation titled, "Top Tips for IELTS", offering hints to help prospective test takers prepare for IELTS and providing information about the increasing number of colleges and universities in the United States that now accept IELTS for international admissions. IELTS measures the English language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is the language of communication, and over 2 million IELTS tests were taken last year. It is accepted by more than 9,000 organizations worldwide, including over 3,000 institutions in the United States, and tests are available in more than 130 countries.
The May 7 International Students Day online event will be publicized across the British Council IELTS test center network in more than 500 testing locations around the world. Students who take IELTS with British Council receive up to 30 hours free preparation material on booking at http://www.takeielts.org.
"This free online event provides a great opportunity for students to learn more about attending college outside of their home nation," said Robert Rosenbloom, President and CEO of CollegeWeekLive. "And thanks to our collaboration with IELTS, students who log in on May 7th will also be able to learn more about how to prepare for and pass an English language proficiency exam."
